CONCEPT

The empirical research results base on four mutually complementary surveys and reveal the impact of the increasing intra-industrial services of the users and producers in terms of their spatial distribution within industrial clusters and urban agglomerations.

a) a conjoint-analysis of the location preferences of the German factory automation producers of the Nuremberg-Erlangen industrial cluster,

b) a network-analysis of the Japanese factory automation producers of the Higashi Osaka industrial cluster,

c) a analysis of the German and Japanese manufacturing and electronic industry, and

d) a multiple case study of the global flagship networks of multinational producers Rockwell, Siemens, and Matsushita regarding their respective main market areas (users) located in North America, Europe, and East Asia.
